Distribution and license tiers (standard vs. Pro) are handled through the Microsoft Store. Recording limits, watermarks, or other restrictions come from the Store listing and in-app prompts and may change. This web documentation does not state fixed trial minutes.
What is Screen Recorder?
Screen Recorder is a professional screen recording tool with audio for Windows. Use it for tutorials, presentations, game recordings, or documentation. The program records the screen and optionally system audio and microphone.

Limitations:
- Store / Pro differences: see the Microsoft Store and messages in the app (not fixed on this page).
- No integrated video editing (recording only)
- No live streaming function
- High CPU usage at 60fps and high resolutions

Installation
1 Download ScreenRecorder-Setup.exe.
2 Run the setup as administrator.
3 Accept the license agreement.
4 Select installation folder (Default: C:\Program Files\ScreenRecorder).
5 Optional: Create desktop shortcut.
First Start
1 Start Screen Recorder via Start menu.
2 Follow the license or Store prompts shown by your installed build.
3 Main window opens with recording settings.
Recording Settings
Select Recording Area
- Full Screen: Records entire desktop
- Window: Records selected program window
- Custom Area: Draw rectangle with mouse
Audio Settings
- System Audio: Records computer sounds
- Microphone: Records voice via microphone
- Both: Records system audio + microphone
- None: Video only, no audio
Quality Settings

Recording
1 Select recording area (full screen/window/custom).
2 Configure audio (system audio, microphone, both, or none).
3 Set video quality and format.
4 Optional: Enable webcam overlay.
5 Optional: Set time limit.
6 Click "Start Recording" or press F9.
7 Recording runs. Control bar visible (can be hidden).
8 Press F10 to pause/resume.
9 Press F11 or click "Stop" to end recording.
10 Video is automatically saved.

Output Folder
Default save location:
C:\Users\[Username]\Videos\ScreenRecorder
Change in settings: Settings > Output > Output Folder
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
| Recording won't start |
Check if recording area is selected. Try running as administrator. |
| No audio recorded |
Check audio settings. Is system audio enabled? Is microphone connected? |
| High CPU usage |
Reduce resolution or frame rate. Close other programs. |
| Video file too large |
Reduce quality settings. Use lower resolution or frame rate. |
| Cursor not visible |
Enable "Record mouse cursor" in settings. |
| Watermark or recording limit |
Check the Microsoft Store for a Pro unlock and follow the in-app prompts. |
| "No valid license" |
Follow the license or Store prompts shown by your installed build. |
Video Editing Tips
Screen Recorder does not include video editing. For editing recordings, we recommend:
- Windows Photos App: Basic cutting (Windows 10/11)
- DaVinci Resolve: Professional editing (free version available)
- Shotcut: Open source video editor
